Energy-efficient peristaltic ink supply for small to medium-sized printing units

The EPP 200-LQ1 is a standalone electric peristaltic pump system specifically designed for small to medium-sized printing units in flexographic printing presses. This system is ideal when frequent ink changes, quick changeovers, and minimal maintenance are priorities – requirements that are particularly critical in production environments with varying jobs, short runs, or limited floor space.

Thanks to its compact design, the EPP 200-LQ1 can be installed directly at the printing unit or on the press gallery level. The robust stainless steel trolley with wheels makes the system mobile and allows for flexible positioning along the printing press.

When is the EPP 200-LQ1 the right choice?

Peristaltic pump technology offers specific advantages that become particularly valuable in certain production scenarios:

Minimal maintenance requirements

Peristaltic pumps operate without valves, diaphragms, or seals – components that cause wear in other pump systems. The ink only contacts the hose, which minimizes the number of wear parts. Hose changes are tool-free and take just a few minutes, thanks to the open design with no hidden corners.

Frequent ink changes and quick turnarounds

The 100% tool-free design and straightforward cleaning save valuable time with every ink change. The low circulation volume reduces ink residue and material waste – particularly important with expensive specialty inks.

Active return flow for demanding conditions

While many systems rely on passive ink return by gravity, the EPP 200-LQ1 operates with a second, active return pump. This is especially beneficial when there is minimal gradient in the printing unit or long hose runs – situations where passive return can lead to air pockets. The synchronized control with preset offset reliably prevents chamber overflow.

Versatile compatibility

Consistent flow rate across all viscosities – whether you're processing water-based or UV inks. This makes the EPP 200-LQ1 a flexible solution for printing operations working with different ink systems.

How the EPP 200-LQ1 works

The system operates on a 2-pump principle: One peristaltic pump delivers ink from any ink container to the chamber via a suction lance. The second pump actively transports excess ink back to the container via the return lance. Both pumps operate synchronously with adjustable flow rate differential.

Control is handled by two Siemens frequency converters, which enable stepless adjustment of the flow rate – up to 5 liters per minute. Operation is intentionally simple: two push buttons and a potentiometer for flow rate adjustment are all that's needed for complete operation.

The intelligent lance system ensures optimal flow: The return lance features vent holes to prevent foam formation – critical for consistent coating quality throughout the production run.
